Listing rules
Short and the same for everyone. They keep the directory useful and safe for the whole community.
Who can list
- The owner or manager of a real business or community organisation operating in New Zealand, or online for New Zealand customers.
- One listing per business or branch. A business with two shops can list each one.
- If your work needs a licence in New Zealand (for example immigration advice, legal services, real estate, financial advice, electrical or plumbing work, or health care), you must hold it, and we check it before publishing.
What a listing must be
- True and up to date. Say what you actually offer, where, and when.
- About the business. Listings and descriptions are not the place for political, religious or campaign messages, for or against anyone. This applies to every group equally.
- Free of personal information about other people, and free of anyone's home address.
- Photos of your business: the shop, the inside, your work or products. No photos of people who have not agreed (especially children), and no political or religious symbols.
Not allowed
- Charging job seekers or migrants any fee to be offered work, or promising visas you cannot lawfully arrange.
- Immigration advice from anyone who is not licensed by the Immigration Advisers Authority or exempt (for example a practising lawyer).
- Anything illegal in New Zealand, misleading claims, or copying another business's name to confuse customers.
- Insults, threats, or content that targets a person or a group.
- Using the message form to send spam, advertising or harassment.
Jobs
- Only a business with a checked listing can post jobs, and we check every job before it goes live.
- Every job shows its pay, and pay must be at least the New Zealand minimum wage.
- Never ask an applicant for a fee, deposit, payment for training, or money for a visa. A job that does is removed and the business may be removed too.
- Say you can support a work visa only if you are an Immigration NZ accredited employer. We check before publishing.
- Messages to job seekers are for real job offers only, never advertising or anything personal.
What happens if a rule is broken
We may ask you to change the listing, hide it while we look into a report, or remove it. You will always be told why, and you can ask the advisory panel to review the decision by emailing vakkas@salixtech.co.nz.
We respond to every report within 24 hours and decide within 48, in line with the Harmful Digital Communications Act 2015.
