Privacy

What we never collect

Religion, political views, ethnic background, association or community membership, visa or residency status, or anyone's home address. The site has no place to enter them, and we will not ask by email or phone either.

What we collect, and why

• Business owners: your email address, to sign you in. It is never shown.
• Listings: the details you enter. Everything is public except the email for customer messages, your NZBN notes, and your phone number unless you choose to show it.
• Messages sent through a listing: the sender's name, email and message, forwarded to the business by email. We keep a copy for 30 days only, to deal with spam and abuse, then delete it.
• Reports: what you tell us, and your email only if you give it.
• Logos and street addresses that owners choose to add. A street address is shown with a Google map that loads only when a visitor taps it.
• Moderation records: what we decided about a listing and why.
• Job applications: your name, email and message, emailed to the employer. We keep a copy for 30 days only.

Job seekers' expressions of interest

• Your first name, the work you want, your city, availability, languages and anything you write about your skills. Nothing else: no surname, photo, contact details, nationality or visa.
• Never public and never in search engines. Only signed-in owners of a business we have checked can see it.
• Employers write to you through us. You see who wrote and can check their listing; they only get your email address if you reply.
• It stops being shown after 60 days unless you renew it. You can hide or delete it at any time, and deleting is permanent.

What we never do

• Sell, rent or share your information with anyone.
• Show advertising or use tracking cookies. Our only cookies keep you signed in and remember your language. Google sets its own cookies only if you choose to load a map.
• Track visitors. We count how often each page is viewed and how often buttons such as WhatsApp or Call are tapped, as plain daily totals. We store nothing about who you are: no cookie, no internet address, no history of what you looked at.
• Use listing contact details for Salix marketing, unless you tick the separate box asking us to.
• Give any government, organisation or person access to the directory's data beyond what is published, except where New Zealand law requires it.

Where it is stored

The database runs on Railway in Singapore. Emails are sent through Resend (a US company) from its Tokyo region. Both are bound by agreements to protect the information. Nothing is stored in Türkiye.

Your choices

• Hide or delete any of your listings, or your whole account, at any time from My listings. Deleting is immediate and permanent, and removes your messages and reports with it.
• Ask us what we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by emailing vakkas@salixtech.co.nz.
• If you are not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner (privacy.org.nz).

If Merhaba closes

Every owner will be told 30 days ahead, and the data will be deleted. The directory will never be sold or handed to another organisation unless each owner agrees.
